“I dare say that you have a house hold name, but for the rest of the class, will you inform us once more what your parents named you?”
Okay, so my name is Shaun, and before you start teasing me, yes, my surname is in fact Potter, not unlike one of the greatest characters in the history of literature. There, can we move on now please? Thanks...
"When were you born? Did you say where? But...Where do you live now?"
I was born here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I like it, I mean it's not "Hollywood" or anything, but once you get over how little there is to do around here, it's fine. I feel well established here and would find it off-putting if my family were to pack up and leave now. I have friends here, and a good school.
"You know, has anyone ever told you that you look exactly like...?"
Kristopher Turner? Who's that? I was half expecting Dan Radcliffe or something predictable like that, so phew. Is he cool? Does he like Star Wars? Oh, my bad. You're the one giving the interview...sorry.
“Okay, be honest here. Which are you in to more: guys or dolls? Don't worry, our lips are sealed. There are just for, er, tracking purposes.”
I like girls, and I'm straight, just so we're clear. Nothing against anyone who isn't, it's just not me. And whatever you heard about me kissing some dude? Don't believe it. It's not true. I mean, ask my girlfriend Elise.
"Oh and your parents? What's your relationship with them? What do they do for a living? Tell me all about it.
My mom, Marion, is Chief of Medicine over at St. Joseph Hospital while my dad, Robert, is head of his own software design company, so yeah, they have a good bit of money saved. You could say I've always gotten everything I wanted, but I'm not a brat like some other kids who's parents spoil them. My mom and dad had me a little late in life, so they're at that stage in their lives where they'll be thinking about retiring soon and enjoying their savings. We're close, but sometimes I wonder what it would've been like to have a brother or sister.
“Alright. So, what do you do in your spare time? Any favorite past times? What are your favorite things in the entire world? Those special things that just make you want to smile?”
I'm a bit of a nerd; I love reading comic books and you'll rarely see me without one either in my hand or tucked into the back pocket of my jeans. Like practically all seventeen year old boys, I'm a gamer and a computer whizz. If there's a problem, I can fix it. My dad also taught me a few things about computers, so that helped. I love to read, my favourite genres being Sci-Fi and Fantasy; LotRs, Harry (*sigh*) Potter, Terry Pratchett, Stephen King, you name it, I've read it. My favourite movie is Star Wars and when I was little, I wanted Princess Leia to be my wife. In my early teens, I would drool over Padme, but I lucked out. I have my very own Padme in the form of my beautiful, smart girlfriend Elise Norewood.
At school I'm lead vocalist for our show-choir, Aural Intensity, and I'm also a member of a lot of clubs, particularly the Drama Club. I've performed in many out of school local theatre productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, The Producers and Blood Brothers. I love being on stage, because although I'm nerdy, I have a lot of confidence.
"That's interesting. Is there anything you absolutely dislike?"
Those geeks who take it to extremes - I mean, fair enough if you want to start a Harry Potter fanclub or whatever, but don't swan around school wearing "dress robes" and fake beards, weilding flashlights and yelling "Expelliarmus!" at the first person you see. That just takes it to a whole other level of crazy. Saying that, I hate jocks and popular kids who think it's fun to pick on anyone who isn't. I don't mind standing up for myself if anyone ever says anything to me. As far as I'm concerned, there is nothing that screams confidence and winner as much as being able to get up on stage and wow a crowd. I bet half of them couldn't even go on stage without peeing their pants out of pressure.
“Any short or long term goals? Where do you see yourself five years? In ten? How do you plan to get there?”
I'd definitely love to pursue a career in theatre. Broadway would be great, and I know that's Elise's dream too so it would be doubly great. It would be great to go off and travel, so I'd kinda love to travel across the world, maybe see Euorpe, etc. I want freedom in my life, and to have fun, though my parents did teach me that it was important to stay focused on a career. If I couldn't reach those goals, I'd probably take over my father's business since I know that's what he'd want.
“Is there a significant other in your life? How do you do with relationships?”
Elise Norewood. She saved my life from some crazed HP cult, and I am eternally grateful. We've been a couple for about 9 months now and I swear, she gets prettier every day. We're both lead vocalists for Aural Intensity too, so we get to sing together a lot more which is brilliant, since she has such an amazing voice. It also means I get to see her more for practice. She's the biggest nerd in the school aside from myself, and we have a lot in common. Between you and I, I think she's the one.
“Not that it matters or anything, but how much do your parents make?”
They're not the richest parents, but they are well off. They're smart with their money though - they don't splurge, and they're good at saving. They've taught me to be the same - although sometimes, I go a little over my candy budget. I earn my own money though, helping my dad out at the company and fixing people I know's computers.
“What makes you quake in your boots? If you had to pick one thing that scared you the most, what would it be?”
Not a lot, except maybe the possibility of the world becoming over-run by robots. I mean, that would be cool, but have you SEEN The Terminator movies? Terrifying!
